blue ray player August 28, 2010 Bob 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Player works well. Software could be more intuitive; took a while to figure out how to transfer data from computer to the blue ray player hard disc. In my opinion this type of transfer should be seamless and without frustration.
Nice player with lots of features August 26, 2010 M. Twedt (Fairfax, VA USA) This player replaced an older Sharp unit. It boots quickly and loads disks quickly. The setup was very easy. HDMI connection worked. Picture quality is flawless. Nothing bad to say about it.
Doubtful August 23, 2010 pinito I got this and the Oppo DBP-83. Kept the Oppo. Build quality of the LG feels cheap - not inexpensive - cheap. Lots of features. Took me 30 minutes to finally get a picture, had to jiggle the HDMI plug over and over until it finally worked. Picture of Oppo is superior. LG had a lot of noise and jaggies.
Early technology August 17, 2010 Les Hooper Essentially this one is way better than the Samsung I first bought, but I get the feeling that blue ray is still in its infancy. We are all used to DVDs which are more direct connection electronics where blue ray is slower and feels more like computers. Sometimes the remote takes a few hits to make the connections and a few glitches where the disc pauses, but comparatively the LG is a lot better.
Nice Player, HDMI does not work, customer support stinks August 15, 2010 R. Hartel (Florida) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
Purchased one of these based on features. Also reccomended to a family friend. Mine arrived first, it set up easily however the HDMI connection does not work, it will work with component video cables. Contacted customer service such as it is and reported the problem and symptoms. After stumbling around a bit they suggested I try component video cable. I did and then it worked. My prior Samsumg BDP1500 blue ray player, and both of my Hi Def TIVO's have no problem with HDMI on my JVC TV. So I connected it to my Sharp HiDef TV, no go on HDMI! My family friend got their's hooked up to a Panasonic Plasma, HDMI no go for that TV either. If someone wants the features that are available with HDMI, avoid this player.
