Amazon.com Riverdance--The Show is a cultural phenomenon that defies criticism for the enthusiastic and leaves everyone else scratching their heads. The wonderfully talented cast, headed by the Riverdance Irish Dance Company, bewitchingly spins (and stomps) its Celtic folk choreography featuring numerous breathless solos by Michael Flatley (since departed) and Jean Butler. The mellifluous Riverdance Orchestra boasts Davy Spillane, who coaxes plaintive lamentations out of a peculiar instrument that resembles a bagpipe in a metal leg brace. For Enya fans, there is the sound-alike choral group Anuna, who casts a similarly New Age-style vocal spell. Also thrown into the mix are such disparate folk traditions as American gospel and Spanish flamenco. Though it's only 70 minutes long, Riverdance is repetitive by half. But judging from the ecstatic audience ovations and the continued foot-stomping during and after the curtain calls, too much is still not enough. --Richard Natale

good movie March 8, 2010 S. Alton I didn't like this video as much as Feet of Flames or Lord of the Dance, but it had some amazing dancers.
It's fab. February 10, 2010 Patrick Darcy (Los Angeles, CA) Such a shame this never made it to DVD. Still my absolute favourite of all the Riverdance shows available to "take away". Come on Riverdance.... the war is over.... release this on DVD! Not a bad buy for a dollar though even if it is on tape!
Jaw Dropping Dancing! January 3, 2010 P. Kelley (San Diego, CA) This original Riverdance with Michael Flatley is astounding, breathtaking, innovative Irish dancing. It will prove to be a timeless production, in my opinion.
Missing a few things from the original Ireland Tape-but still a very good performance December 4, 2009 Christopher Batchelor (Red Hook, NY United States) Missing a few things from the original Ireland Tape-but still a very good performance for these Riverdance dancers. Now, I don't like tapdancing, but this crew did definitely set my mood adrift, and made me dream that my brain was sailing on a white light cloud-layer. The DVD was set into 2 sides. The first side is of the first act, and the other side is of the second act. Very good on the overall. Something you have to see in person, to believe.
Looking for the Michael Flately June 22, 2009 Irish is Grand (St. Paul, MN) I have been looking for the original Riverdance spirit and Michael's performance. I bought the book and the CD of the music, but I wanted Michael Flately's performance, not Colin Dunne's and all the extra junk that has been shoveled into the show. It was all I could have wished for and more.
