Mixed Bag July 28, 2010 Gibby (Muskegon, MI United States) I use hundreds of DVD cases at work and switched from the Best Buy Dynex brand when they cheapened the outer sleeve material & the hub design. Now, I have mixed feelings about these too. First, the quality of the material is outstanding; They obviously use virgin poly. They're also nice and straight. For some reason, the Dynex cases always had a pronounced curve. The outer sleeve is also of a quality gauge and they seem to be attached well so they should last. Here's the BUT. The center hub which they tout so much is absurd. To test my hypothesis, I put a used DVD in the case and walked around the office and gave it to 10 different people and then simply asked them to remove the disc. Only 2 out of the 10 could release the disc quickly. For about five others, it took a good 15-20 seconds to release the disc. The others were still working on it after 30 seconds. The problem is, if you hold the case like you normally would, say, a book, it doesn't release like other DVD cases. Yo have to depress the button and slide it left. If you depress the button and just lift as usual, you can yank on it all day (which is what some did and to the detriment of the DVD) and it won't come out. That can't be good for stress at the center hub of the DVD. There's got to be a better design than this clunker that will protect that fragile area. The standard Amaray box hub is terrific. Do they need to over-complicate these things?
Excellent Product and Service Only at AMAZON May 17, 2010 R. Hubbard (rainier, or) These DVD storage cases are easy to use, easy to label, easy to store. What more could you want. We love them.
Memorex DVD cases May 8, 2010 Paul Hardy (HARPERS FERRY, WV, US) Cases were exactly what I expected. Great price, and they arrived three days after I received the email that item had been shipped. Memorex Slim DVD Video 25-Pack Storage Cases (Clear)
Love These! March 6, 2010 nctmac (TX) The Memorex Slim DVD Storage Cases are better than I expected. The center button that secures the DVD is superior to the standard black DVD case. The standard black DVD case (received with movies I've purchased) center is made up of four pieces, of which at least one usually breaks. The center of the slim storage case has two pieces, one C shaped piece & a button (reads "push")that extends slightly over the disc to secure it. The disc is released once the button is pushed - no issues that cause you to struggle with the release. There are four outlying indentures which make it easy to pick the disc up out of the case. Case has two clips on inside left, and a sleeve on the outside to insert a cover/identifier page. I highly recommend the Memorex Slim DVD Video Storage Cases!!
What great and safe space savers for DVDs March 5, 2010 Pan B. (Daly City, CA USA) I was looking to save space from the standard DVD case and this really delivers. I looked at all the other types of storage containers but still wanted to store all my DVD's in a drawer and keep the artwork / labels and could see the names of each DVD. I didn't want to use the binder style as they're ugly so I'd want to put it back in a drawer, but really didn't want to store it flat (therefore DVDs would be flat on top of each other vs up/down) & was concerned they'd warp over time. The book-looking style would have been better-looking, but they're open at the top DVD's and could deteriorate them faster (plus take lots more space on a shelf - my drawers are too shallow to have used these). These worked really well. I only had to slice off a couple millimeters from both ends of the artwork: folded in 1/2 and used one of those slicers you can buy almost anywhere. This kept the 'spine' part right in the middle with the name of the DVD right it should be in the new case. They each even have a clip-type holder for more inserts if needed. Basically, I stored 56 of these in the same space as 24-25 single standard holders. I also liked the idea that these are made for DVD's and not just generic CD/DVD holders. I don't know if it's hype, but Memorex explains that DVD centers are slightly different from CD centers. These micro-thin DVD holders are supposed to be safer than a generic case. Also, they're easy to put in and take out. Hope this helped.
